The global IDEX Fire & Safety team earned the IDEX Living Our Purpose award.
IDEX businesses around the world embody our company purpose of Trusted Solutions, Improving Lives™. Some go further, saving lives. For their role in designing solutions and equipping rescue workers, the global IDEX Fire & Safety team earned the IDEX Living Our Purpose award.
Through Akron Brass, Alco, AWG, Dinglee, Godiva, LUKAS, Hale, HURST Jaws of Life, Vetter and Weldon, IDEX Fire & Safety empowers first responders to save lives in critical moments, when seconds matter and danger is all around.
IDEX Fire & Safety increasingly employs data technologies to support rescue workers and their departments in their missions, and to protect them from danger when serving their communities, exemplifying IDEX’s commitment to providing trusted solutions that improve lives in a very different, overarching, and powerful way.
The teams in this group have worked tirelessly to continue to innovate our core lifesaving products. For example:
Lifesaving Product Innovations
- The HURST Jaws of Life were the first in the industry to be entirely electric and fully submersible for flexibility of use. The tools now collect use data that allow departments to track performance and predict maintenance needs.
- From pump controls on fire trucks to nozzles with display controls in the hands of firefighters, the Akron Brass SAM BOOST System is revolutionizing technology use in the fire service. The latest model puts the core water control capabilities of the SAM System at the end of hose lines, allowing firefighters to control their own flow of water. Hale’s SAM™ is an automated flow control system that manages the truck’s pump, tank, intakes, and discharges. Its touchscreen display and computer controls replace the traditional dials and gauges seen on the side of a fire truck.
- Vetter Connectable “C-Tec” Bags allow rescue workers to lift heavy objects like collapsed buildings to save trapped people during natural disasters.
Serving IDEX Colleagues in Times of Need
Many IDEX Fire & Safety employees are former or current firefighters in their communities. Their dedication to helping people in times of need extends into the work they have done when natural disasters have struck communities where our IDEX colleagues live and work.
After catastrophic flooding in Germany in 2021, IDEX colleagues from across Germany selflessly helped others get through the tragedy. They assisted rescue and recovery operations, using IDEX Fire & Safety demonstration equipment to aid in the recovery, including pumping water from homes.
In 2022, after Hurricane Ian damaged our Pulsafeeder location in Punta Gorda, Florida, colleagues at IDEX Fire & Safety’s Hale Products gathered critical supplies needed by our employees and drove them two hours south to help. They leaped into action because a culture that supports the fire service feels compelled to assist in times of need.
When a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in Turkey in 2023, Vetter employees traveled to Turkey to provide emergency tents. These tents provided shelter for many civilians who were affected by the natural disaster.
Backing a Critical Cause – Human Trafficking
It’s not just through products that IDEX Fire & Safety lives our purpose. It’s through partnerships as well, including the group’s efforts to help first responders stamp out human trafficking.
IDEX Fire & Safety has partnered with the IDEX Foundation to support iEmpathize - a non-profit organization that equips adults and first responders with skills to recognize and help eradicate child exploitation and human trafficking
The First Responder Training course helps firefighters and EMTs to identify trafficking situations where there could be a potential victim or crime. This training enables them to identify and respond to human trafficking cases… including one case of a nurse who used her training from an IDEX-sponsored session to recognize a human trafficking situation with a patient at her hospital.
The IDEX Fire & Safety team is honored to earn the IDEX Living Our Purpose Award. We are committed to engineering solutions and equipping rescue workers across the world.
